1. Paul Woodbury Lambert Paul's middle name came from the early Utah Mormon custom where families practising plural marriage gave the mother's maiden name as the child's middle name to distinguish which mother the child belonged to. In Paul's case, his father did not practise plural marriage, but his parents named him based on family tradition - his grand father, Charles John Lambert, and great grand father, Charles Lambert, had both lived in polygamous relationships. As a small child, Paul knew "Aunt Mary", his grandfather's second wife, but did not know until many years later that they were living in polygamy.
